Laser Toning Peel

What is Medlite C6 Laser Toning?

Medlite C6 Laser Toning is a non-ablative method of skin rejuvenation that improves the skin’s quality and texture without damaging the epidermis.

Using wavelengths of light, laser toning is a procedure that stimulates normal repair mechanisms by creating deep heat in the skin. This dermal heating leads to new collagen formation in the dermis and a toning effect on the upper epidermis. It also softens fibrous scar tissue enabling the deposition of new collagen improving depressed scars and wrinkles from the bottom up.

What can Medlite Laser Toning treat?

MedLite Laser Toning is effective in:

  • Improving the quality and texture of the skin without damaging the epidermis
  • Improving fine lines through the stimulation of collagen regeneration in the subtle heating
  • Shrinking pore size and improving acne
  • Decreasing the appearance of mild scars
  • Decreasing dermal pigment
  • Treating and maintaining Melasma
  • Reducing and maintaining fine, dark facial hairs
  • Treating follicular barbae (ingrown hairs)

Advantages of non-ablative Laser Toning?

The advantages of Laser Toning include:

  • No lengthy downtime
  • Quick treatments with minimal discomfort
  • Ability to treat all skin types and colour with little risk of pigment change
  • Progressive improvement over several months post treatment
  • Compatible with many other cosmetic treatments

Contraindications

Laser Toning is not ideal with the following characteristics:

  • Roaccutane
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • History of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing
  • Light sensitising medication
  • Light trigger seizures
  • Open wounds, eczema, dermatitis, active rosacea or active Herpes Simplex
  • Facial surgery in the last 12 months
  • Cancer or radiation therapy
  • Sunburn in area to be treated
  • Waxing, IPL, laser therapy or injectable treatments within the last week

Note: Please advise your doctor or nurse if you are prone to cold sores.

How many sessions do I need?

Everyone’s skin responds differently and is dependent on the initial condition being treated and the desired outcome, but most skin will need multiple treatments. On average Laser Toning requires 6-8 sessions at 2-4 week intervals for lighter skin types and 3-4 weeks for darker skin types.

What does it feel like?

During the Laser Toning procedure you may feel a prickling sensation and heating similar to mild sunburn.

How does my skin look after the treatment?

Results will vary depending on the size of the treatment area and the strength of treatment. However, most skin will experience mild redness and sensitivity for 24 hours. Some skin may also be prone to very mild purpura or bruising visible for 2-3 days.

Potential complications

If skin is incorrectly cared for, it can prolong the healing process and possibly lead to pigmentary changes in the skin. These are usually transient and resolve in 1-12 months. Patients must avoid heat and direct sun exposure for 48 hours post treatment.

Skin Preparation

Two weeks prior to the procedure, you will be required to prime the skin with active ingredients to maximise treatment outcomes, assist in speeding up the healing time and reducing the risk of post laser complications.

A specific skin regime will be recommended to you at your initial consultation and will include AHA’s, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and broad-spectrum SPF 30+. For dermal pigment, we recommend the use of Ultra Ceuticals Brightening Range 2 weeks prior and 4 weeks post treatment.

Cost

Prices for Laser Toning are from $175 per treatment per area and will be discussed at the time of your consultation.
