Spot Pigment Treatment

**Results may vary from person to person**

What is Medlite C6 Spot Pigment Treatment?

Almost everyone in Australia has facial pigmentation from sun exposure and although they are not harmful to the skin’s health, they detract from an even complexion and can therefore be cosmetically displeasing.

Spot Pigment Treatment can lighten these accumulations of pigment and improve the skin’s overall colour, texture and luminosity.

The Medlite C6 Spot Laser Treatment is a light-based procedure that targets signs of ageing, including uneven skin tone (pigmentation) such as freckles and age spots anywhere on the body.

What can the Pigment Laser treat?

Spot Laser Treatment is ideal for someone with:

  • Freckles
  • Solar Lentigines (age spots)
  • IPL resistant sun damage

**Results may vary from person to person**

Spot Pigment Treatment is not ideal for someone with the following characteristics:

  • Roaccutane
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • History of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing
  • Light triggered seizures
  • Light sensitising and/or anticoagulant medication
  • Tanning medications or tan application
  • Cancer or radiation therapy
  • Open wounds, eczema, dermatitis, active rosacea or active Herpes Simplex
  • Surgery in the area in the last 3-6 months
  • Sunburn in the area to be treated
  • Waxing, IPL, laser therapy or injectable treatments within the last 7 days
  • Melasma (recommend a course of Laser Toning Peels and lightening cream instead)

Note: Please inform your doctor or nurse if you have ever experienced or are prone to darkening of the skin post trauma.

Potential Complications (rare)

Spot Pigment Treatment is usually very safe and risks and complications are rare. However, if the skin is incorrectly cared for it can prolong the healing time and possibly lead to infection and scarring.

Hyperpigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin associated with trauma) can last from 1-12 months. It can be treated with medicated bleaching creams and we recommend darker skin types prep their skin with a bleaching cream 4weeks prior to treatment. It the skin fails to lighten (some lesions may need further treatment such as cryotherapy) and can be discussed with your doctor.

How many treatments do I need?

Most people will notice a visible improvement after the first treatment. Up to 3 treatments may be recommended for skin with more significant skin damage.

How often do I need to have the treatment?

We recommend monthly treatments for future maintenance against any pigmentation occurring after the pigment treated now.

Preparatory Products

For 2+ weeks prior to your treatment we recommend the use of the Ultra Diminishing Complex or Ultra Brightening Serum. The doctor may alternatively recommend a prescription lightening cream.

The Procedure

Dr Jayson Oates performs the procedure at our government-licensed Academy Day Hospital. During the procedure you will feel a prickling sensation followed by a mild heat at which time cold air and/or cool compress is applied for 15 minutes. A warm glow may be felt on the skin for 48 hours after treatment and we ask that you keep the area cool.

How does my skin look after the treatment?

Most skin will experience mild redness, swelling and sensitivity for 24-48 hours. Some skin may be prone to very mild purpura or bruising visible for 2-3 days. There will also be areas of darkening, which will either flake off or lighten over the first 7 days for the face and 21-28 days for the body.

Prices for Laser Toning are from $100 per treatment per area and will be discussed at the time of your consultation.
